If you live in or around Bentonville, you know that the cycling scene has not just taken off in the community, but it is booming with excitement.  The new bike trails have elevated the type of recreation and activities for cyclists of all levels in the community.  Much of the success of this growing fitness activity can be attributed to Bike Bentonville.

Bike BentonvilleBike Bentonville provides leadership and technical resources for community-driven health and fitness initiatives.
Their goal is to enhance our local quality of life by creating a bicycle and multisport friendly community, guided and built by those in it.

One of their major initiatives was working with the Bentonville Public School System to create perhaps the most comprehensive bicycle physical education program in the nation. The program is named “Trail Time.” All 17 schools, including elementary through high school, received a classroom set of high end Trek bicycles, including one for the teacher and a manual with a thorough bicycle curriculum.

Because of their work in the community, Bentonville schools received the National School Public Relations Association's Gold Medallion Award for their bicycle physical education program.

Bike education is just one of the many goals of Bike Bentonville.  Another focus for Bike Bentonville is working to promote healthy lifestyle events for families in the community on the trails and greenways.  There are a number of rides everyday leaving from different parts of Bentonville including rides just for women, just for families, and other niche groups that meet all skill levels.  See their full events calendar here.

One of their funnest events of the year takes place on July 4th at Mellow Mushroom in Rogers.  It is a "show up and go" type of event that you do not have to register for.  If you are looking for a fun intermediate ride, consider joining them on the upcoming holiday and be sure to visit their website for maps and bike routes.
