NWA Highlights: The Arts
Northwest Arkansas, Fayetteville specifically, is home to two performing art venues- the Walton Arts Center & TheatreSquared. From touring Broadway shows to locally produced plays, these venues are making performing arts accessible to all residents in Northwest Arkansas and beyond.
Opened in 1992, the Walton Arts Center has become Arkansas’ largest and busiest arts presenter. Each year, the center hosts touring Broadway shows as well as concerts, comedians, art focused events, and more. In the 2023-2024 season, the Walton Arts Center will present 120 performances. Some of those performances include SIX, Aladdin, Hairspray, Les Miserables, and more. The Walton Arts Center also puts an emphasis on giving back to the community by partnering with local schools and teachers to educate students about the importance of the arts. More than 600,000 students and teachers have benefitted from the art education programs.
Another performing arts venue is TheatreSquared. Each year, TheatreSquared welcomes more than 80,000 patrons from across the region to its 350 shows. The venue is known for its intimate setting and immersive performances. TheatreSquared hires professionals from across the country to produce these performances and launch new work by numerous playwrights. Similar to the Walton Arts Center, TheatreSquared looks to give back to the youth of Northwest Arkansas through educational programs, special events, and classes.
