In 2019, the City of Bentonville announced an addition to their Master Street Plan, the Quilt of Parks. Since then, there have been major steps towards this plan including board approvals, renderings, community input sessions, and more. On December 9th, 2020 the Walton Family Foundation announced their grant of $1.2 million dollars towards the design of the A Street Promenade. The promenade will span multiple blocks along A Street removing motorists from the roads and creating pathways for pedestrians and cyclists. The A Street Promenade will be a central piece of the Quilt of Parks connecting Lawrence plaza at the north end to The Commons at the south end. The Quilt of Parks will be developed in phases with The Commons, Dave Peel Park, and the A Street Promenade being some of the first completed. The timeline for the entire project to be done is estimated at eight to ten years.
